Kotsuzumi’s Designer’s, Hirosuke Watanuki, Profile
In
1956, he studied politics in University of Lisbon in Portugal as a foreign student
while he was a postgraduate in Kansei University. Since he moved to Portugal,
he had traveled all over in Europe, Africa, and South America. During the time,
he transferred the major of diplomacy to South European Arts. Nowadays, his fabulous
39 arts are in the Lisbon National Museum of Modern Art, and all over in Europe
and Africa.His transcended talents; designs, sculptures, ceramic arts, glasses, buildings, landscaping, poetries, Japan papers, stippling, dyed goods, fabrics, liquors, teas, and dim-sums, are published and expressed into 18 books.
The origin of Kotsuzumi
The brewery name, Kotsuzumi, named by the famous poet,
Kyoshi Takahama (1874~1959.) The third generation, Hakuun Nishiyama, were sake
brewers also poets under Mr. Takahama.
Hakuun
Nishiyama was born in 1878 as a oldest son in Nishiyama clan. He was influenced
by a famous poet, Hakugetsu Numura. Hakuun was introduced the most famous poet,
Kyoshi Takaahama, by Hakugetsu in 1894. Mr. Takahama found Hakuun’s talent and
he became one of Mr. Takahama’s right hands. Then Mr. Takahama described the
sake Hakuun made as a kotsuzumi, a beautiful ancient small hand drum, in his
poem. Since then, we keep protecting the image of our products
and the brand of the brewery, Kotsuzumi.
